  • I've been a fan since 1985

I just saw a video of a live performance they did (without Gilbert) in Japan in 2016. Wow! Then I learned of this compilation. Some sites indicate there is a version of "The Party (acoustic)" on this album, but it isn't included on this iTunes version. Oh well, the unreleased tracks that are included are much appreciated. I hope they reunite, put out a new album, and come to Dallas, Texas on a world tour. Since I bought their first album on cassette in 1985, their music has meant a lot to me.

Love the movie, love the gorgeous song that plays as they kiss goodbye for the day. Takes me back to 1986

One of the more memorable scenes in the 1986 film "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" is when Ferris, Cameron, and Sloan visit the Art Institute of Chicago. The Dream Academy's cover of The Smiths "Please, Please, Please Let Me Get What I Want" features prominently during this scene as Cameron stares into the painting on the wall. Glad to finally be able to pick up an official release of this track.

To finally have the instrumental version of Power to Believe is one song I've been waiting 25 years for. It's played toward the end of Planes, Trains and Automobiles. Absolutely one of my favorite and emotional scenes of all time.

Graceful, evocative, poetic, soulful (in the English way). The music of The Dream Academy is so intelligently composed, so elegantly played, and so expertly produced that it transcends the idea of era. There is evening here, and lost nights of candles and sad romance, and walking grey damp streets in the soft almost-dawn. Always, love slips away, heartbreak descends, and there remains the cool loneliness and the collar turned against the chill. Everything feels like it is distant, uncertain. But we still want, and our aching, tattered hearts still beat, and we do things that prove that we cannot help but care and love again...
