Glad to see the band back in form. There's not one bad track on this album. Those giving it bad reviews either don't know what good rock is or they never listened to it! The hooks, melodies, solos, harmonies, etc. just show this groups immense talent.

I was turned on to The Darkness when an ex showed me their biggest hit, I Believe in a Thing Called Love. I scoured the webs to purchase their albums and enjoy the music. This particular album was, however, a disappointment to me. The reason they get 4 stars is because it's still Rock solid. Coming from someone who thought Hot Cakes was brilliant, this album was so formulaic it hurt at times. With some arena anthems such as Wheels of the Machine and the title track Last of Our Kind you can't help but feel the music. Then with songs like Mudslide and Mighty Wings you feel like someone is jesting you. Overall, a solid purchase and well worth the listen(s). Just, better to go in with low expectations.

Holy cow! The Darkness is always oozing the essence of classic rock and metal.....this time is no exception, but I also hear a little bit of influence from The Cult, Big Country, and U2, showcasing their UK pedigree. Love this band and have never been disappointed.

Ever since I heard “I Believe in a Thing Called Love” I was HOOKED on The Darkness. This album brings back the feel and sounds of their first along with some fun new tunes and voice styles on different songs. Truly something to put on full blast and rock out too! Can’t wait to see them live again this year!

If you love fantastic rock music that makes you feel great, this is the album for you. The Darkness may poke fun at themselves, but they definitely take their music seriously. The band members are all top notch musicians with big guitar riffs, amazing bass lines, great drumming and some of the best vocals in the business. This album is solid. Warning: If you hate getting music stuck in your head, do not buy this album...These songs will become permanently lodged in your head. For the rest of you: This is were the challenge comes in... Step one: Buy the album Step two: Listen to album Step three: Play the album again and sing along with Justin Hawkins. Can you hit those notes? Step four: Post your review of this album along with how you did on the challenge Warning: Taking this challenge may result in unexpected bouts of singing Barbarian while in the line at the post office. Scoring: Vocal Ability: 1-10 Enthusiasm: 1-10 Loudness: 1-11 ("It's one louder, isn't it.") 20-31 points: You rock! 1-19 points: You also rock, just not as much. Thanks for trying. My score: Vocal - 1; Enthusiasm - 10; Loudness - 11 = 22 points Summary of this review: Buy this album!
