Elated

I really, really loved "The Purity of the Turf"...but I think FoF have outdone themselves with "Elated". Lyrically, these songs tell wonderful stories that are just off-kilter enough to stay interesting. My favorite right now is "Art Store Jerks", but "Machu Picchu" is really growing on me. Not sure what it's about, but like the best Wilco songs, that mystery will keep me coming back again and again. Musically, Jeffrey Dale Starr stays in that jangly "Robyn Hitchcock meets Neil Young meets Johnny Marr meets The Byrds" area and that's just fine with me. Two years felt like forever waiting for this album, but it was well worth the wait. I'm glad it's not a cassette or I'd be wearing this thing out!
