I can't, for the life of me, figure out how anyone could give this cd a negative review in any way.. It's the perfect laid back holiday nog. I put this on at our little rustic ski cabin in the mountains of Washington State & people just melt. I put it on at home in the city & the family melts. The perfect holiday vibe. The perfect performer to do so. Family making x-mas cookies, me(dad) drinkin' a brew, bobbing around the house to this perfect holiday music. Cheers Martin! Thanks for the holiday camp vibes.... All others looking for the "normal" Martin release.... well... Baa-humbug! This is something special & should be appreciated as so.
  • Gotta love the voice.

Like others, I was disappointed that Marty didn't release a new album of original tunes. However, I think that this record will introduce a whole new audience to Marty that might not have found him otherwise. People searching for Christmas tunes will be delighted to find this voice in the 30 second samples. Then, they will surely be searching for more Martin Sexton. In response to the reviewer who was confused by the guest vocalists on Silent Night. Martin performed that song live in Syracuse (his hometown). His sister and his dad joined him on stage. Truly magical.

I have enjoyed Martin's music for years, and I was more than a little disappointed at this effort. It felt like he threw it together in as little time as possible. Martin usually takes music and makes it his own as time passes, including cover songs and songs he wrote years ago. 'Camp Holiday' is not musically gratifying to me. If you are looking for some Martin Sexton to start out on, check out his live album.

First of all, Martin Sexton is a musical GENIUS. That being said, it's only natural that this talent would carry over into this Christmas wonder, "Camp Holiday." If you are like me (or just happen to be under the age of 90, and you have ears) you will love this album. It's so great to hear familiar Christmas music presented in an ENTIRELY different package. Sexton's voice is so calming and his music is stripped so bare- most of the time it's just Martin and his guitar- and we are better off for it. Instead of drowning himself in orchestras and what-not, he showcases his pure, soulful voice, his TREMENDOUS guitar skills and his seemingly obsessive attention to detail. I don't think ANY album deserves 5 stars, maybe a Beatles album might achieve such a score, so 4 stars for a Christmas album is saying a lot. Do yourself a favor and put these tracks in your Christmas mix. I promise you, your friends, family and co-workers won't stop asking you, "Who is this guy?"

Martin's voice and guitar playing are second to none. If you haven't seen Martin Sexton, you have to get out there and see him. Regardless of Christmas vs. his amazing other songs, his voice and range are like no other. I'm waiting for the live album from the road on this last tour......and ready to give that 5 stars.

Once again Martin is able to use his incredible voice and rock-solid guitar playing to create a delicious mix of beautiful holiday tunes. I earnestly await every release by this ultra-talented artist, and have yet to be ever disappointed.

Christmas album or not, it is always a treat to hear new music from this amazingly talented artist. All my friends are asking 'who's singing those Christmas songs?' They are thrilled to know he has other albums! You simply cannot hear enough of this great musician.

I was less than thrilled to learn that the new studio album would be a "Christmas" album. However, this one is special. From original arrangements to the expected amazing voice, this album is terrific. It is very soulful, which is what I think is missing from most holiday tunes these days. This man's voice is truly a wonder, and it comes through here. Enjoy!

This is the first new Martin Sexton studio album in quite some time, and to be honest I was dissappointed to see a Christmas album from this amazing talent. Do we really need more Christmas albums? My opinion is no, but I could listen to this voice sing nursery rhyms and I would have little to complain about. Silent Night is a wonderful treat. I think it is is Dad who sings one of the verses. The only thing keeping me from giving this album five stars is the fact that it is indeed another Christmas album. That being said, it will be the Christmas album I listen to this year and give out as gifts for years to come.
