I like Shai Linne for both the theology and the music but this album didn't really provide either. I REALLY dislike R&B and this album was just packed with it and after the first track, Doxology, the album took a nosedive. Couldn't even listen all the way through many of the songs becuase they were so R&B laden. Nor did they carry the deep punch they usually do. I hope this isn't a new trajectory. Lyrical Theology Pt. 1 was such an incredible album that I'm hoping this was just a one time contrast. Otherwise Christian Hip-hop has lost it's best.
  • Worship was what you were doing! Why change formats?

I'm a huge Shai Linne fan. His Christ-centered lyrics set this pastors bones on fire to preach. I can get praise and worship music in other places. I go to Shai to give me good theology which NATURALLY leads to doxollogy. I honestly can say I live in praise due to the God given music of Shai Linee. I support you, but I miss the Shai who could wring every drop of solid reformed theology out of his songs. Praise God for Shai! Do what you do best. We are all for you!!

I must admit, when i first listened to this album i was disappointed because it was just so, well...different to me! All his other albums were great. I feel like there is less theology compared to his other albums and its more so aimed toward worship, hence part of the album title "doxology." There is definitely less of shai linne in this album which was also disappointing. Also there are 2 tracks were a lady is singing and I dont not like those tracks at all. All said and done, I do like most of the songs on this album and I do play it often in my car to worship to it but it does not come close to his other albums.
  • Disappointed.

I don’t know if there was anyone who was more excited about LTP2 than me. Part 1 ministered to me in ways that no other Christian album ever has, PERIOD. That being said… This album is really bad. I know that Shai Linne specifically said that he was going for an album of songs that could be sung in black churches, but the songs just aren’t good. How many rap songs are there on the album? 2? 3? PLEASE don’t judge Shai Linne off of this album!! The rest of his stuff is too AWESOME! I’m going to put this album down and look forward to his next release, whenever it is.

I agree with some of the people who are confused at why Shai isn't even in many of the songs... I bought it knowing what the style was going to be, but was disappointed listening to it because I just wanted to hear Shai! Looking forward to the next album...
  • When does the new Shai Linne album come out?

The only thing going through my mind listening to this is: is this a Shai Linne album? It reminds me of when I was in college and I had to write a paper but I didn't want to so I just filled most of it with quotes from other people. Don't get me wrong, I ABSOLUTELY love Shai Linne and his music had lead to so much sanctification and worship in my life, but this album provided very little of what I love about him. I don't buy his albums for the rap, but for the lyrics and this one was very weak. The doxology did not really flow out of what was covered in the first album, which would have made more sense. I also thought he might have done more songs on the actual doxologies or apostles prayers in scripture, but he didn't. I hope the next album can redeem this. Shai, keep working hard man! Blair, great poem!

Well worth the purchase; definitely gives all glory and brings sole focus to God. He is one on my favorite HHH artists (all Lamp Mode for that matter). Only bummer, Shai wasn’t in quite a few of the songs; he might read a few verses in the beginning of the song, but aside from that he is completely absent. This happens for 6 songs (granted one is an Intro) that’s 40% of the album! Just seemed like more of a collaboration than an individual artist disc.

This album gives much Glory to Christ. Absolutely love it, it's a nice change of pace hip-hop album. Some of the criticisms I've seen on this project relating to Shai's other projects I think miss that this is a worship album.
  • Different.

Wasn't what I though it would be, but to be honest, I love it, because it's a variety of styles that I been looking for, but rarely ever find. For example, "to the praise of his grace" is a type of genre or style that I love, but most of the time I find music that sounds like that, it's pointing toward the prosperity gospel or something. Also I love the negro-spiritual type style (come Lord Jesus, come). I also hope there will be more hymns remixed with rhythm like "nothing but the Blood" was on this album. I was bumping this while waiting in the Costco gas line today with the volume high. This is a album that makes me wanna get speakers installed in my car, mainly so I could bump the hymnal with bass, etc.

In a genre of Christian rap where most of them sold out to the industry, Shai Linne and Lamp Mode still keep it about Christ. I call it Christian Rap because its RAP. Folks think Hip-Hop is rap and it aint. Shai knows this and this album is evident of that. We need to support our reformed rappers like Shai Linne and the few that are out there praising Christ. I’m a bit passoniate about this because after what Lecrae did in removing his “Christian” identity and replacing it with Hip-Hop. He sold out and I was totally disappointed. Ok. Back to this album. It’s one of the best ones I’ve heard to date. Shai if you ever read this, keep doing what you’re doing and feed the urban flock. Send grace and peace over to brother Timothy Brindle. He’s another Christian rapper how haven’t sold out either. Thanks for keeping us pointed in the direction of the light and away from ourselves.
