Alex is a the most talented and original musician/artist ever to have come on American Idol. Yet he losing at top 3 (and not to mention Sam Woolf losing at top 5) is whats wrong with judging and voting system at American Idol. The judges were smart enough to pick him but not see his talent deep enough to see how original, mature and cool performer he is. Fairy Tales is a testament to how original and how musically great he is. His style, however geeky, is very endearing and makes who he is. A great musical performance does not require shouting at the top of the lungs especially when the melody does not call for it.
