This album took a 37 year old music fan and completely made me rethink music. I have no idea how I have just recently heard of swans, but I am so glad I did

A lot of people think that Swans just make really weird stuff that only appeals to pretentious people, but this isn't the case. At first glance, Swans' music can seem very odd and strange to the point of being off putting. However don't let that deter you. Many music fans of today's time focus too much on vocals and that's one of the reason people don't get into Swans, Gira's vocals range from actual singing to random noises. His voice isn't the most crisp but it sounds very fatherly and comforting at times. I don't care what kind of music you're into, I don't care who you are, but you NEED to buy this album. This album takes you on a journey which may seem long and perilous, but you will feel enlightened in the end. Please don't pass up this breathtaking sonic experience.

I literally can't use words to describe this album. It's unlike anything you'll ever hear, pushing music to places most musicians could never get close to. To the casual listener, this just comes off as "weird" and "repetitive" but after hearing it a few times over, you truly hear things you didn't hear before. The beauty is in the repetitiveness. The simple openings are just illusions to make the huge cacophonous noise hit you that much harder. It's music to sit in a quiet room with your eyes closed to, not to fuel a car jam session. This album is an amazing experience.
