The first time I heard The Tower, I wasn't thrilled. After listening to this album on another website, and some of their older music, I am hooked. I did not hesitate to purchase this after hearing it all the way through. If you like to rock or folk out a bit, the older Oak is probably for you. I like all of it.

I like the pace and smoothness of the album. Her voice is very cool - feminine yet with its feet firmly planted in the earth. It's like an indie Sade.

The new album sounds nothing like what I’ve loved about the band; it sounds a awful lot like the Cocteau Twins, which is not necessarily a bad thing.

What a voice Jenn has. I’m a fan. Music is easy going with a bit of indie/electro-pop going on. Get this album.

i did not fall in love with Wye Oak's last work, "Civilian", like most did. It's post-grunge angst bored me. With "Shriek" Wye Oak has crafted an elegant, evolved, mature work of glistening synth pop that gets better with each listen. Jen Wasner's vocals smolder and shimmer with lyrics that are pure poetry. A must have!

I think I've definitely become a fan. The minimal beats & haunting music bring relaxation... and that's exactly what I like. Better yet, some tunes can give me a slight capability to jam out as well.

Very disappointed. I don't think this will grow on me. I think they are very talented musicians, and I've listened to them from the start..and this 80's sound is awful.
