My parents always liked this band and I'm so glad they are still making music! Reminds me of childhood. <3

I have been listening to Fuel since 1996 when they were playing in local bars around Central Pa. I honestly think this is album ranks up there with Sunburn and Something Like Human. I really like where Fuel is heading. You cant judge an album by listening to 1 minute samples!
  • Much better than Angels and Devils

I won't make this review overly long and drawn out. I'll cut it quick. Puppet Strings blows away Angels and Devils. The singing is better. Toryn Green isn't trying to sound like Scallions. Instead... Brett Scallions is sounding great as ever and sounding the way Toryn Green WISHED he could sound like. You can't buy this album and expect it to be as good as Something Like Human and Sunburn. You just can't. Carl Bell is a great writer/guitarist for sure. This is basically the original lead singer of Fuel with a new band behind him. Please give credit to those other players as they are good in their own right. The album title, artwork and the quick 10 song set of 40 minutes makes this album a quick and pleasant listen. This is one of the best rock records out in 2014 so far. Its amazing how this doesn't get played over the trash that gets airplay. This record isn't more popular because people simply don't know about it. The album isn't the most amazing album ever... it is equal to Natural Selection I think. It is good though. "Wander", "Puppet Strings" and "What We Can Never Have" are some of the best songs Fuel have ever done. (eat your heart out Bell) "Cold Summer" is also notable. I mean the album is 10 songs, you got about 5-7 good ones and a couple fillers in there. This is simply a band that hasn't released anything in 7 years, and a singer that hasn't released anything with THIS band in 11 years. I say, thank you for the music Brett! Thank you for the album Puppet Strings and please by all means keep it coming. This is a band trying to get heard again, and with "Puppet Strings" almost out 2 months now... I'm shocked to see everyone wasting their money on Rap/Pop when you could be spending it on something more artisitic and trying as Fuel and Brett Scallions.
  • Not the same

The music does not have the same power profession as it once did. I do not have the cd but just from listening to the previews if each track you can tell it's not fuel. They should just change their name and start fresh and if they ever get back together then have a fuel reunion
  • Why so Negative?

I am very surprised by all of the negative reviews for this album. The top 2 "most helpful" reviews trash the album, and criticize it for not sounding like the "real Fuel." Nevertheless, a quick glance at the overall fan ratings for this album reveals a landslide of 5 star reviews. I myself will only rate it with 4 stars, reserving the top rating for my favorite Fuel album "Sunburn." Despite the criticism, this is a great release by a great band, albeit not with all the original members. My only negative criticism is that the album only provides 10 tracks, and barely passes the 40 minute mark in run time. I absolutely HATE when bands release a mere 10 track album. It seems lazy. However, what "Puppet Strings" lacks in quantity it flourishes in quality. Each track is enjoyable and offers a nice variety of music. Don't listen to the haters. Listen to "Puppet Strings" in its entirety. All Fuel fans are sure to enjoy. Stand out tracks include the hard rocking "A Soul To Preach To" and the explosive "Cold Summer." Enjoy, and rock on.

Im sorry guys but this is in no way shape or form FUEL. What were you thinking? I mean really, if you listen to your previous works of AWESOMENESS.... This is totally not even close. Brett... for real man, did someone steal your @@? I think Ill wait for you to grow another pair and release your next album...MULLIGAN!!!

Even when they changed vocalist they were still amazing! This was just put together and there is nothing special about this album. I would recommend listening to the whole thing before buying it. It was a very big let down for me.
  • Pretty dam good

I agree with other posts that this lacks the "classic" Fuel sound but also creates a pretty dam good new sound. The vocals are great and while a couple songs are sub-standard, there also some great, great songs on here. Definitely worth purchasing.

While it is great that Brett is back, it still isn't the same band and it shows in the music. I like it and can't wait for the next album.
