Steve Reich takes his particular style of Minimalism into an orchestral realm. Most affecting is the first movement (Strings), which uses a slow overlapping theme/motif to an amazing and powerful effect. Those of you who are perhaps into brooding, dark soundtrack music/film scores, particularly that of the more recent Ennio Morricone scores (Wolf), will probably like this movement. The other three movements are excellent as well, and worth the money/investment in listening, but in my opinion, don't have nearly the emotional impact of the first movement. The Four Sections: I Strings (with Winds and Brass)- One of my desert island must haves!
