This is about as good as jazz/rock gets. The horns are tight and never miss a beat. And speaking of beats, I'd never heard of Gaylord Birch. But his drumming reminds me of Billy Cobham, tasty and always with just the right amount of show and polish. Any album with the Pointer Sisters singing background vocals should raise your curiosity. All I can say is, "Buy this music." You'll be glad you did when you're listening to it and tapping your feet.

In the seventies, every payday I'd add an album to my collection. The criteria was it had to be an "unknown" band - as who wanted to buy music that was already playing on the radio? The recordshop manager was cutting edge - and he really knew what I liked. Cold Blood and dearest Lydia was by far one of my greatest buy of all time. While in college (University of Hawaii) Cold Blood did their "farewell concert" at our outdoor ampha-theater under the stars. Lydia's voice rocked the coconuts! How did such a voice come out of such a petite lady? I'm so very pleased to find this on iTunes !....but weren't there more songs???

I too was stationed in Korea from Nov 72 to Mar 74 at Ascom / Yongsan. I found this album among the very limited selection at the Yongsan PX. I took it back to the hooch and it soon became the most popular among in our collection. I was very, very fortunate after I ETS'd from the Army and went back to San Berdoo. A friend ask me to go to a concert at the famed Swing Auditorium, he had bacstage passes. We went, and to my surprise, Cold Blood and UFO were the warm-ups for a reformed Steppenwolf concert. Cold Blood and UFO (Phenomenom era) were by far the memorable acts I saw that night. I actually chatted with the members of Cold Blood (most importantly Lydia Pense) and the original members of UFO. What a memory - This album still kicks butt, love the arrangements, horns and vocals!

This is one of my desert island disks—absolutely one of the best recordings of the seventies. Also a nod to the Pointer Sisters and Tower of Power horns who added so much.

This album as well as Sisyphus brings me way back... it's like Santanna meets Tower of Power and Janis Joplin with a little James Brown! Oh Baby!!

I took a chance on this album in 1973 when I was in the army stationed up near the DMZ in Korea. The opening riffs on Baby I Love You had me hooked. I played this record and played it and cherished it for over 30 years. You are the Sunshine of My Life even had the Brothers dancin'. Lydia Pense, the lead singer, can SING! I only had it in LP form until I found this summer that Cold Blood was finally back in "print" again. Needless to say, I snatched up as much Cold Blood as I could. If you like great horns, super chord progressions, tight rhythms, take it from me, this album is for you. Get it!
