You can put whatever label's you like on a band, doesn't make them the best. The Distillers could probably be put into a couple of genre's: punk, rock, alternative. Hell someone somewhere would probably say they are a hardcore rock band. However you label them there is no denying they have talent. Yes Brody does have a Courtney Love sound to her lyrics. I don't think Courtney Love could have ever put out so many good songs though. From Sing Sing Death House to Coral Fang, The Distillers always have more than one song that should be more mainstream. From Seneca Falls to The Hunger, just a couple of songs most will never hear because radio has forgotten what good music is. As for Green Day, they are a great band. To say they sold out, who hasn't. Every band "sells out". That's how most of us hear of them. If it wansn't for record labels signing these talented individuals we'd still be singing church songs and what not. Can you imagine the horror? No Nirvana, Social Distortion, Bloc Party, Green Day, The Distillers, The Toadie's, or any of the "greats" that get us through the day. Music is music. If you like it listen and share. If you don't, don't hate. Who are you and what song will remember you?

all you people have issues if youre calling green day a punk band. the distillers are bad a*s, but are by no means a hardcore punk band, they just put out some good tracks.

I can understand why it hasn't transcended into the mainstream hall of fame with the scratchy loud vocals almost completely drowning out the music. don't get me wrong, its not bad, Im just not that into grunge rock in its hardcore sense. The distillers remind me a lot of Courtney Love and Julliette and the Licks. I personally like Julliette and the Licks better because of the cleaner sound. and I don't know really what to call Green Day, but I wouldn't call them punk rock, more like grunge pop. and there are a lot of other bands out there that you might like more, so keep searching, if you call yourself a fan of music, and try to keep an open mind instead of shutting everyone down and telling people to shove lightsabers up theirs.

The Distillers are doin a damn good job of keepin' real punk alive! Solid album. I wish I could let this go but... This guy Ash515 is a total idiot to make a statement that Green Day is the best punk band ever??? Dude... Green Day is NOT punk! Go check out bands like hmm... Dead Kennedy's, Dwarves, Black Flag, Sex Pistols, GBH, or the Exploited to hear what real punk sounds like. Hey, what do I know... I'm sure Green Day is way better than any of those punk pioneers.
