I bought the LP back in '85 as a teen, and was happy to see it appear on iTunes so I could have it again. Easton has always been one of my favorite guitarists - he's a hook factory - and this is a really good album, full of catchy pop-rock. He's a chameleon who plays for the song, so there is no one "style" here. But if you like The Cars, catchy power-pop and/or tasty guitar-playing, you'll enjoy this album. I just can't believe it's been 27 years...I remember playing this album and seeing the video for "(Wearing Down) Like a Wheel" (you know, back when a certain network used to actually play those things called "music videos").

I had this as an LP back in '85 when it came out. The two 'hit' songs, "Like a Wheel" and "Shayla" had lots of airplay, and are my personal faves. The rest of the album is hit and miss. You'll most likely pick and choose tracks on this one, but they are all definitely worth a sample.

This is a noble and varied effort by Elliot Easton, the lead guitarist for "The Cars". Easton shows some awesome hooks that remind you why you liked the one or two songs each Cars album that seemed to be different from the rest. My favorite track, worthy of purchasing the whole cd, is "I Want You", with a grinding rhythm and catchy riff that I'm suprised hasn't been sampled to death by other artists. I'm sure it eventually will be. Many of the other songs are catchy pop jems. Maybe not a masterpeice, but a fun, enjoyable side effort by a talented artist that you already know and enjoy.
