Reviews

  • At least three great tracks

The title song Ghost in the Shell Arise, Jibun ga Inai, and Soto wa Senjou Dayo are the most structured songs, and the last two are collaborations and feature female vocals that are both great. Above all the production and engineering of texture and imaging with a really deep sound stage are all so impressive you would enjoy it best with full CD quality as your source medium. Then add a decent pair of headphones or a great receiver/amp/speaker combo and this album really impresses. None of that even speaks to the novel things CORNELIUS does musically that make this album both intellectually engaging and satisfying in an emotively artistic experience.

This soundtrack really goes with the feel of the new series, and while I agree it's not as comfortable as Yoko Kanno feels with this show, CORNELIUS has done an excellent job. I feel almost uncomfortable when I listen to this, because of its unpredicable nature with synths and sporradic rhythms. However, within this, there is beautiful melodies and motifs, which I think really relates well to the show. if nothing else, try the opening. It's excellent.
  • Not quite Yoko Kanno, But Great

Keeps in line with the GITS:SAC soundtracks, in tone and feel, while sounding new. CORNEILUS Does the franchise proud with this OST. It’s definitely modeled after Kanno’s iconic soundscapes, and like anything that’s “like” an original, it’s NOT the original. But it’s great listening.
