He turned me onto the Vines back in 2004 - I knew that he had great taste. Homesick is an underrated gem.
  • A modern classic

The Vines' debut album is pure punk bliss. It starts off with a bang and then swings deftly between hardcore thrash and soft acoustic numbers without missing a beat. These are the kind of songs that stick in your head for days. I've listened to it at least six times and I still can't get enough.
  • One of the best.

Highly Evolved channels the ambience of british garage rock in the 1960's and combines it with the heavy grunge guitar sound of 90s grunge. Its heaviness is balanced perfectly with tracks such as Homesick, Mary Jane, and Autumn shade which take a break from the raw energy of its heavier tracks and pursue a more consoling magic with softer, charming sounds.
  • I honestly do not understand.
