Put it this way, is this album would have been a Duran Duran album it would probably be the best after Rio... It's that good, all of it!

So Red the Rose still holds up after all this time. So much so in fact, that I consider it an unofficial DD album. While I also like the music The Powerstation released (that other band members' side project), Arcadia feels like Duran Duran wearing artful synth pop on its sleeve. Seven & The Ragged Tiger might have featured the consummate Mid-Eighties new wave sound, but So Red The Rose takes it to another plane, offering thoughtful, often times dark grooves and infectious pretense. Election Day sounded like music from the future when I was 15 years old. It still sounds like that today.
  • A gem!

Not only for Duran Duran fans but to fans of music alone. As a kid I got this album and fell in love with its artistic masterpieces. To those who say it's not so good, maybe they haven't listened well enough or simply cannot appreciate true art and music. Duran Duran was my favourite band as a kid, and when they ended their band and became the power trio of Arcadia, to have this album in my hands was like finding a goldmine.
  • Cool direction bad songs.

It's kind of amazing that in there heyday they could only get one hit out of this. I like where they were going but in the end the songs and the melodies we just not up to par.

this CD hit after the whirlwind of DD's 1984 world take over... as a huge DD fan I purchased it... it was moodier, darker than DD... I liked it... the hit Election Day saw to that... but as the years progressed the CD really grew on me... I appreciate the music much more today than I did in 1985... It is a great CD...
