This album is a true example of the growth and success of a solo artist after breaking off from the band which gave them their start. It's relatable and awe inspiring. The only thing missing from this are the b-sides which truly make the album experience.

Genuine and Counterfeit is the first full length album by singer/songwriter William Beckett since the break-up of his former band, The Academy Is... This album displays his knack for catchy choruses and plaintive musings, and while it has upbeat and pop moments, they are not simple or expected. Genuine and Counterfeit is cerebral and deeply layered both sonically and lyrically. Listen through from start to finish as Beckett tells a story you are sure to relate to.
