I first heard Elvis as a 9 year old in 1956. I only heard this debut album several tears later, so "Elvis" was really my true introduction. Having bought his singles on 78 (my first Elvis 45 was Teddy Bear), I can say that his music changed my world. This is the album that changed the world as we knew it and led John Lennon to say, "Before Elvis, there was nothing."

An amazing debut album from the King. He defined this era of music and the talent from what he showed from just his first album is unmatched. He has a collection of slow to upbeat jams making this a must listen.

An iconic album. Not the essential Elvis album of the 50s though. I think that goes to either Elvis' Golden Records or 50 Million Fans Can't Go Wrong. Trying to Get To You and Money Honey are the highlights of this album.

Released sometime in 1956, Elvis Presley's album began flying off the shelves into every home that had at least one teenager. From here on out the rest is history: Elvis' name became a household name, his music touched not only the teenagers but they managed to touch the parents. A reccomended album, this will set you up with the greatest performer the world has ever known LONG LIVE THE KING
