It's A Start...

This album came out 30 years ago, when Eric Martin was an arena rock singer not too different from Journey, REO, Survivor, Bryan Adams, Loverboy or Styx. The title track is a nice rocker that would help Eric land his current job as Mr. Big frontman. This very album hit the lower reaches of the Billboard Album Chart, stalling at #191. Elektra/Asylum didn't know what it had until after it realized it had lost a talented AOR singer. Luckily Capitol picked up Eric's contract after Elektra dumped his contract. Too bad neither of Eric's Capitol albums from the mid-late 80's are here at iTunes, including his S/T LP which features his biggest solo hit "Information" (pos. #87 in 1985, and his only Billboard Hot 100 pop single.) Hopefully iTunes will get Eric's S/T album and the follow up, 1987's "I'm Only Fooling Myself", the latter which neither charted nor contains a hit single. This album along with Eric's Capitol releases are ideal for the diehard AOR fanatic.
