  • Took me a while to get into, but still awesome.

SFTG have never disappointed me with their albums, and Tribes is no exception. In this album, they tread on darker territory again, however unlike their previous album Widerworld, which built off of fear of the unknown to create an unsettling atmosphere, Tribes goes for some more familiar sounds. It's glitchier and maybe a little jazz-influenced, but still consistently maintains that slightly uncomfortable atmosphere, even on the brighter tracks like "Craigie Point" or "Feels Reel". It reminds me of my long bus trips going to college, seeing some interesting sights but still being jostled around by the bus and feeling slight dread of the upcoming boredom and/or quizzes in class. It's unlike anything else out there. That being said, I do still have some issues with the album. Out of all the tracks only "Feels Reel" has succeeded in getting stuck in my head; for the most part not much of the other tracks have left as much of an impression on me. Maybe it's because I haven't listened to it as much, but most SFTG albums have at least 3 or 4 tracks that stick out in my mind. But whatever, I still enjoyed this album quite a bit, and I think any other longtime SFTG fans will as well.

SFTG is by far my favorite artist of this genre, because their music never disappoints. Best chill out music ever! And I have the library of their work to prove it. Keep up the good work!!!
