This is one of my personal favorite As I Lay Dying albums. This album has a great flow, track after track. Also great drum solos, and guitar solos as well. Finally, the instruments wrap around the vocals like no other, and intertwine perfectly.

Great album from start to finish can't say enough good things about it. These songs just speak to me ever since I first heard it in 2005. Buy it, you won't regret it.

...Shadows Are Security totally blew me away when I first heard it (and it still does now). Although the songs do sound alike, they are still all different and unique in their own way. My favorite song off the album was either Through Struggle or Control Is Dead. Here is how I ended up rating every song:

First off, before you go complaining that all the vocalist is doing is screaming into a microphone and that anyone could make money off this, do some research before you look like a very VERY big idiot. Screaming is just as hard as singing. It takes total relaxation, strong diaphragmic muscles and a natural technique, just like singing. And the lyrics are beautiful. If you don't understand them, just look them up for Christ's sake and don't just complain about it. The instrumental part of the songs are terrific, just as good as AILD always does! The clean vocals are a wonderful touch on songs like Confined and Darkest Nights too!

This album needs balance and better production. It sounds like it was recorded in a garage. Also the vocals are too loud. Not a fan of the vocals on this album. However, he has greatly improved them since.
