  • Where is the passion?

I remember hearing Gretchen perform Baracda live and it was fantastic. But I don't hear any passion in these tracks. It feels like a run-through practice on a cold drizzly day. She can really jump on songs and light them up, but hasn't here. Her last studio album left me feeling the same way.

Gretchen Wilson rocks and has the most amazing voice but the production on this is just all wrong. Her voice is lost and muted when it needs to be front and center. It's a shame. Listen to her versions of Barracuda or Rock and Roll and you realize she's an amazing rocker but this CD is just off. LIke it was done with Garageband program or something. Please John Rich bring back the real Gretchen!
  • It's a cover album, what did you expect?

I've produced a lot of albums for a lot of artists and it's very hard to please everyone. Gretchen Wilson absolutely nails the essence of some songs, especially Bad Company. She does a great job with Lights too. I do have to agree with others who have commented about the sound mixing. A couple songs sound good, but the vocal tracks are too weak. If I were GW, I'd be inviting someone to find employment elsewhere.

Gretchen just revive the 70's all by herself. Man! her and Taylor Swift music is real too. Not no computer generated stuff! She can sing blues, rock, country. Sony records you messed up. Want to see Gretchen, Kid Rock and Taylor Swift dream concert!

Glad that she's back with new music and glad that she's releasing three records this year. Although this is a cover album, it is very well done. I know that some of the fans of the originals won't like them, but it's incredible. This is definitely not a country record, but Gretchen's voice fits really well in the southern rock genre.

She has a nice enough voice and does a good job singing these songs. But they are virtually identical to the originals. Why? If you are going to re-interpret them why record them at all. Fail.

After seeing her perform some of the songs in a concert 3 days before this album hit the stores, she and her band rocked the stage and the line to purchase the album at the Merch Tent was huge. This is the rock that I grew up on, the rock that transformed me from a country only listener to listening to all music. She was HOT on stage, it is great to hear these songs with a fresh appeal. Great Going Gretchen and band.
