One of the best albums I've heard in a long time. A bit of Rolling Stones mixed with Steve Earle & a Ray Wylie Hubbard groove. At the same time completely original an a must have. Mind blowing lyrics with an in your face approach you'd be a fool to not at least give it a listen. Did you buy it? .... It'd be a lot cooler if you did! That is all!

This is the second CD I have from Javi Garcia. Like the first CD, A Southern Horror, The Great Controversy is a fine CD from top to bottom. Songs about family, abuse, death and life. But it is life through Javi's eyes, and if you listen to his music you quickly realize the personal nature of his songs.
The first track "The Sound" sets the tone for the entire CD.
"I still I hear you scream out loud
How much you hate his face
How you'd stick him in the ground
And bury him in your pillow case"
Gritty and Grimey, like something you know you should not see but you can't take your eyes it. You have to listen over and over. Each track after that is different but always in a good way. You never say oh, that sounds like that other track.
Mr. Garcia is a true artist, from writing, playing, producing and art design for the CD along with outstanding art and design form many other artists.
I would recommend this CD for anyone that loves great American music. I won't try and define or compare it, you can do that on your own. It's just a great CD

I kid you not, this is the album to buy. If you are like me and are looking for something cool, bluesy, rock n roll-ish, and all around bada--, this is the album to get. The rasp of Javi's voice blends seamlessly with the grungy, southern twang of the guitar hanging from his neck. Ray Wylie Hubbard for our generation. This is a guy to watch out for.
