I bought the new one first, and although The Traveling Kind is good, very good, this one blows it AND me away! Not to firmiluar with Rodney but I'm a huge Emmylou fan and this has definitly been one of the best albums I own. Rodney's guitar playing, Emmylou's voice and of course Brian's well known production, C'MON! all the ingredients are there for an album that's sure to rock you! A brilliant team of talent and a highly recomended buy! Play it loud!
- Great songs...but meh.

This is a solid album of great material. But the arrangements are almost so spare and straightforward, it's just not as interesting.
I love Spanish Dancer, Bull Rider, and a few other cuts...but personally, of all of Emmylou Harris' recent duet albums, I enjoy All the Roadrunning more than this one.

What a treat to hear Emmy Lou back with Rodney Crowell singing real country music. Simple wonderful lyrics with a minimalist accompaniment of dedicated musicians. This album personifies real country music, not the new artists packaged to all sound alike so you don't realize they can't sing.
If I could only have one artist to listen to, it would be Emmy Lou Harris.

This album is totally without feeling or emotion. Not one of the best efforts either artist. I'm a big Emmylou Harris fan, but there really isn't a good song on the album. Just a bunch of mediocre stuff, like both artists thought: "Let's just get this album over with.' If this is the best Emmylou can come up with now, I guess her career is over.

This album has it all! Great songs sung by two wonderful talents. From the first few notes of the first song it's clear that this album is a labor of love by an outstanding collection of musicians and two great singers! If you're a fan of country music done the ol timey way you'll love this album.
- I love every song...not true of every album

It is rare that I like every song on an album enough to buy the whole thing. I really loved every song on this one. I'm not a big fan of country and western but I have always loved Emmylou Harris so I knew I would not be disappointed. Sad songs that remind me of some of the old records my mother used to listen to in the 60's. Great.

She's still got it!!! I can listen to Emmy Lou for hours. Her voice may not be as strong or piercing as years ago but it has a mature and captivating quality, a soulfulness, that wasn't as evident in her earlier music!!! I love it!!!!

This release should find a place in the library of anyone who appreciates Emmylou Harris as a truly remarkable artist. Here she is well-matched in musical skill by her companions. Some of the songs definitely show her maturity and ever-increasing reflective depth at the age of 66 as a singer; other songs are just plain fun to listen to. Put aside all arguments about old (or new) country music. In fact, don't think about genre at all. Harris simply transcends such classification. Instead, listen to the unique and sweet voice of a woman who always sings from her heart. Who could not be grateful for her graceful rendition of a song like "Spanish Dancer"? Thank you, Emmylou Harris, for another gift.
- Old Yellow Moon - a real disappointment!

Was SOOO looking forward to this - love so many of Harris' other dual efforts, esp with John Denver, Roy Orbison, George Jones, Trio and Trio II. No matter how hard I tried to like these songs, I found myself skipping them. They just leave me flat. Would have been so much better if she had just recorded them herself. Crowell is so so far behind the caliber of the other singers she has teamed with. Friendship is one thing, but this is not the way to treat loyal listeners and fans. now I am trying to get my money back (and iTunes is not making it easy!)
