This is my favorite album by slayer. Soo much of the music on this album set the stage for thrash metal acts to follow. If there is any album I suggest beginning with, it would be with this seminal album. Feel the rush of frantic and steely guitars assaulting you with punishing riffs that won’t let you go. Truly a metal classic.

This album is a metal masterpiece. I’d say it’s for sure a top 3 Slayer album if not the best. Die by the Sword and Black Magic are my favorites but every song is great.

When I was 11 years old back in 1991, I attempted to buy Seasons In The Abyss on cassette at my local record store because I wanted a Slayer album so badly after seeing them on Headbangers Ball, but was denied due to the parental advisory label on the cover, so I bought this album instead. This record grew on me like a fungus. It might not be their most potent release, but it's definitely the most catchy. I later convinced my parents to pick up other albums such as Seasons, Heaven and Reign, which happen to be my favorites, but I'm glad that I started here by accident. It gave me an appreciation for where this band began and what metal bands sounded like back in the early 80's. I still have the original cassette from the 1983 release, and that's pretty special. I know they just retired, but long live Slayer, one of the best thrash bands, if not thee best of all time.
  • An incredible Statement.

This record Is BLACK METAL be fore that genre was a thing. This record is dark and danky and grungy. Blackened speed metal. A must and very necessary.

Slayers pivotal, classic debut was so sonically ahead of its time. Faster, heavier and certainly no less intricate than metallica, they went to crap -post Dave Mustaine, who penned half of Kill em all and formed the also superior band, Megadeth. The ULTIMATE introduction to Slayer and then happy trails through their whole riveting blood soaked discography.
