Ivy In the Orange Grove

Since their first album the Masons have plugged in and started expanding the band to include a more rock and roll feel to their music. This album adds the talent of keyboardist Ben Wilson to the stacked line up that includes brothers Christian Mason and prolific song writer James Mason. James Mason is one of the most talented song writers out there weaving textures of complex music with powerful lyrics. The album opens with "Calling Out to You" a rock anthem with some country feel to it. My personal favorite track is track four," head above water" a great lyrical and musical treat that combines the acoustic/folk foundation of the first album with the "new sound" of this ever evolving band. "Hanging on a Thread" closes the album with a straight ahead rock and roll thrill ride with great solos by James and Christian. If you like music with heart and soul then this is your record. It's one of those that I have on repeat that seem to always be coming back to.
