Life Beyond LA - one of the best and most underrated albums of the .1970s. From the romantic ballad (and radio hit) of "How Much I Feel", to the brilliant keyboard and guitar work on "If Heaven Can Find Me" (which is really the much more romantic song) or "Apothecary" this album displays the depth of talent in this band, which was quickly and unfortunately pigeonholed by radio. Not their only good album, but a brilliant first stop.

OK here is the deal as I see it. Their first two albums were amazing. It had the feel of the old FM DJ's in NYC in the late 60's when they were free to turn you on to whatever they liked at that time. Dennis Elsis ( bad spelling ) who was the program director at WNEW FM first played Dance With Me George and I was blown away. The song has so many different levels to listen to it reminded me of the Beatles only more influenced by the classics . Somewhere I've never travelled is truly one of the best albums ever and I have misspent my youth glued to headsets and stereos so I feel I can pontificate. Anyone who has Vonnegut lyrics and a Leonard Bernstein endorsement was doing something right...Then it appears the record company got hold of them and said where's the hits and along came AM/FM ready hits Biggest Part of Me, You're the only Woman. not Bad but a retreat. So please do buy their first two albums and you will hear the promise of a truly wonderful band that appears to have been manipulated by corporate greed along the way. To wit- in the late 80's or early 90's they were playing for free at Rye Beach Playground for maybe 30 people and were great. How sad and yet the true fans were there... And where is the studio version of Magical Mystery tour from All This And More movie soundtrack?

Im usually not a big fan of the whole "Rhino Hi Five" system but for Ambrosia, it totally makes sense. Ambrosia fits the rare glove of having 5 big hits. No more, no less. The songs span their career in the 70s and work well beside each other in the set. And for 3.99$, what else could you ask for?

Nice music. These guys play really well and the singer's key matches the song. Not something you hear any more. Although I enjoy Ambrosia, you either have to be in the mood for easy listening or had to be there....

While these five songs are some of Ambrosia's more popular songs, it is missing some others in my opinion.
The older ones missing are "Life Beyond LA", "Livin on my Own", and "Time Waits for No One". In fact "Time Waits for No One" may be better than a couple of songs on this compilation.
The newer songs missing are "Heart to Heart", "Somewhere I've Never Been", and "Sky is Falling".
You can find these songs on the Anthology CD.
