While I was eagerly waiting this e.p. all I could think about was how it was going to be just like M.O.F. or W.o.M.D. While State Hospital isn't a direct connection from the previous two, it definitely bridges the gap what the future might hold for their new full length. I absolutely love BOXING NIGHT, (which I read was a track that didn't make it on M.O.F.) State Hospital is a great new song to their catalog, and Home from War is in the same vein, too. The last two are more unique and less coupled with previous albums. All in all this is a great e.p. for any FR fan. Def worth the price. (And go see them live!!!!!!)
  • Lacking the usual emotion

I love all of frightened rabbits previous albums, but they dropped the ball on this one. It feels flat, it's lacking the emotion that the previous albums had. The only song I like is wedding gloves, and I think the guest singer kind of ruins it by echoing the lyrics in the most boring voice. FR, please return to the emotion filled days of Sing the Greys and Midnight Organ Fight!

I've been listening to Frightened Rabbit for a long time now, and their music is always incredible. I can easily say that they are my favorite band, and that there is no other band that can hit me on such an emotional level. This EP continues their fantastically impactful music. BUY IT, you wont regret it!!

The members of Frightened Rabbit have returned, and done an amazing job with this EP. State Hospital is a fantastic song, and has already got me excited for the new album. The rest of the songs are also quite good, with Boxing Night serving as a callback to their older sound on Midnight Organ Flight and Wedding Gloves featuring the brilliant Aidan Moffat, lead singer of Arab Strap (another band worth checking out). This EP is easily a worthwhile purchase, and continues to showcase the growth of the band and their sound as a whole while still providing a bevy of catchy and intelligent tunes.
  • Moodier, but still quintessentially FR

This album is definitely moodier and darker in its feel than the previous albums, but still a really great collection. I especially love Boxing Day, and Scott's voice is incredibly emotion-laden. Completely worth every penny!
  • Little different, but still good

It is a little slower EP, different from their faster/louder stuff but still good, can't go wrong with FR, recommend!

State Hospital is one of those songs that stir the core of one's soul and touch the very neurons of one's emotions.
