I am a devoted fan of two constructs: the European Classical (Bach, Beethven, Mozart) and how they adapt so well to Tamil music in the hands of seasoned musician like Ilayaraaja. I admit – I am a bit biased towards his music. NEPV is a wonderful treat to those of us who love European Classicals. You don’t have to love it though to like this album. There is a lot of soul in songs like Kaatrai Konjam and Mudhal Murai and even the one sung by Yuvan (Sayndhu). Ilayaraaja is a rarity in Indian film music. The only constructive feedback I have about this album is that some of the other songs could have been slightly more “indianized” like he used to do in his early years. But then Gautham V Menon is a very “anglo-styled” film maker and he probably asked for this.
It is a musical treat to all. Wonderful work on strings (AS ALWAYS!) and this time strings include the Electric Guitar. I loved the garage band style drumming and Electric guitar work in Kaatrai Konjam and Mudhal Murai. Thanks Ilayaraaja – for once more reminding me why I fell in love with your film music in the first place!

Fantastic musical treat!!! The entire album is woven in a Jazzy type with live orchestration bring a sensational feel hearing the songs! The way how Raja sir has blended the strings and organs for his tune is amazing!
