  • The Singer

I wish it was still the original singer because that's what I heard originally but Daniel Tompkins does a really good job too. Welcome back Haji you have been greatly missed.
  • Great Job!

This is an amazing album and all, but I'd love to have the original too! Can't beat having both in my opinion, that'd be awesome!

The version of "Day After Day" on this album is not as good as the 2003 version.
  • Great.

Haji's Kitchen did a great job in acquiring Daniel Tompkins as their vocalist. It really pushes their music to another level as he really fits in with music. It is not strange, in a sense, because Dan can fit in with various genres of music (from Skyharbor to Absent Hearts to First Signs of Frost). In this case, it is more of a straightfoward metal record with strong musicianship all around. Hopefully we will be able to hear more music from Dan and HK in the future.

Wow! Great to see that they're back! This album is interesting, considering it takes several songs that were released before and adds some new ones. It seems to return to the roots of the first album that were shed a little on the second one, also improving in different ways. I feel like this album re-establishes the Kitchen as a truly experimental, heavy band. I personally preferred the first album to the second album, Sucker Punch. I can say that Vince Mullins came a long way from the second album when recording "Day After Day" and "Notch", his vocals being one of the weaker attributes of the second album. However, all credits to him, he's a fantastic singer nonetheless. And so is Daniel Thompkins, who brings a djent accessory to the realm of this alternative metal band. This band is true alternative metal in the sense that it came fresh off the cusp of bands like AIC and Pantera to bring a sound of its own. Dan sings well, but I think that the album songs are actually better than the single, 'Define the Lie.' I didn't know what to expect with the new album, until I checked it out a little. Honestly, I can say that Haji has come full circle, right here. Now, if only we could find Eddie Ellis. ;)

DANIEL TOMPKINS makes this album hands down, if you like his vocals he's in a ton of other bands which are better than this, try the new Skyharbor album, obviously Tesseract which is epic, and first signs of frosts second album which has a couple of really good songs.

Okay, new review now that I've really listened to the album. I liked this whole album even more than I thought I would. The new vocalist, while different than Vince Mullins of whom I was a big fan, does a bang up job. The originals of Day After Day, Lost, and Notch must be three of the most played songs in my library, and probably three of my favorite songs ever, and these new recordings have made them fresh for me again after nearly playing them to death. On top of that, the four new recordings, Nocturnus, Define the Lie, Warrior, and Sidhartha, are all amazing and have the same subtle hooks that slowly get you on subsequent listens that the three rerecorded songs do. Every facet of the music is excellent as well. The vocalist does a magnificent job, and the guitar, drums, and bass create the same sort of progressive, rhythmic grooves that they've had on all their prior albums. Great job guys, you've really impressed me, and this may be the most through and through solid full length you've released, keep up the good work!
  • I recognized two songs.

The songs Lost and Day After Day were used in Dragon Ball Z: The Legendary Super Saiyan.
  • Great Album!

It has been 10 years since their last release. Let me just say my mind was blown. This album has every single Haji element that I was hoping for. Although I will be straight up honest and say I liked the vocals on Day After Day done better by Vince Mullins, I still have to say that Daniel Tompkins totally nailed it! This album was well worth the wait! I'm really hoping to see more stuff done with Dan in the future. Great job Haji and welcome back!
