Saw these guys for the first time as the opening act for Passion Pit. They were amazing live; go see them if you have the chance. Ultramark's lyrics are inventive and thoughtful, yet their sound is bright and electrifying. Make sure you don't miss Ordinaire!

If you’ve got a sweet tooth for immanently listenable electronic hooks, Wildlife Pop serves up candy in spades. Overexposure to the heavy arrangements may result in some unwanted cavities, but measured consumption should safely supply listeners with the synthetic sugar they’ve been craving. From start to finish, the members of Stepdad treat their audience to a bevy of ethereal earworms. The quirky “My Leather, My Fur, My Nails” tosses synths together in a satisfying, kaleidoscopic fashion, while the buoyant blips found in “Will I Ever Dance Again?” eagerly whisk the listener along the album’s well-carved melodic river. Although the unfettered electro-pop is skillfully crafted, the album’s greatest achievement lies in its unexpectedly successful blend of synthesizer melodies and frontier sensibility. “Treasure Hugs,” for example, fuses electronic vibes with rounds of bird chirping. The expansive soundscape created in “Jungle” feels perfectly suited to the onset of a grand Serengeti expedition, and the natural motifs embedded in the rest of the album’s writing reinforce this unconventional linkage. While some lyrics take themselves too seriously and imbue the accompanying track with excessive gravity – the otherwise delightful opener “Must Land Running” falls victim to this textual trap – the band doesn’t burden the album with these misappropriated verses; in fact, some spots (the latter half of “Treasure Hugs,” for instance) offer pleasantly surprising insight. Stepdad’s experimental mixtures may appear strange on first glance, but a full listen through Wildlife Pop should convince all but the most stalwart skeptics that pairing euphoric electronica with organic backdrops can be remarkably fruitful. Numerical Score: 3.75/5

I was walking around with friends, then got separated and just made my way checking out random tents. I only had planned seeing NFG, YC, & The Used. But I walked by when they started playing and I loved it. Great Guys, Amazing music.

I honestly liked Must Land Running so much from when it was released as a single. I didn't think the Album could live up to the expectations I had. It turns out, that it beat my expectations. I might like this more than Passion Pit's Manners. And thats saying something!
