I had the pleasure of attending a San Francisco "event" where Lee Press-On and the Nails performed this past weekend (Aug 2009!). Crisp, Sharp, Wonderful - music that really does span the generations and lifestyles - hey it was quite a party and the music was FANTASTIC! The album is just a fraction of the talent in this group - and I hope there's a new offering soon!

These guys are fun! Begin The Beguine was instilled in my brain as a kid when my mom listened to KFOG in S.F. and they'd play the big band versions of it. Lee Press-on and the Nails do an excellent job of capturing the flavor of this great classic swing tune. (So good, in fact, that when looking for a classic version to remind me of the ones I listened to 40 years ago, this is what I bought.) Huge sound very well pulled off!
  • Great S.F. Bay Area Band

Few bands ever played with more exuberance or energy than Lee Press-On and the Nails. If you were lucky enough to have lived in the San Francisco Bay Area in the 90's and early 00's you were likely to see them perform for free at the annual North Beach Fair or opening for acts like Big Bad Voodoo Daddy. This album features lively and original orchestrations blending elements of big band, swing, Latin and Tango along with the lovely vocals of lead singer Leslie Presley. Five stars.
