The Mockingbird and the Dogwood Tree is a true "all-american record" that delivers well. Joel and Sarah Finley have written some incredible pieces of music that are not recall sounds from the past, but are songs that have incredible presence, and will persevere into the future. This album has not left my CD player since I received it 3 weeks ago. This album is well-crafted. Musically, everything fits into place. Arrangements are spot-on. Vocals are mixed incredibly well! All the musicians have played their parts just right with the correct feel! Well done Lulu Mae! You are easily one of the best bands in Nashville and have great music to offer to the world.

Awesome, music with those great sounds of vocal harmony together with clear, distinct sounds of guitar and other instruments, masterfully composed, performed, and produced. Compelling lyrics that take you places. Brilliantly performed. A real treat that reminds me of the folk music bars in Chicago in the 70s, the records that were the soundtrack of the 50s, 60s, and 70s. But don't stop there. Vocal harmonies have delighted in previous decades and centuries as well. So has the power of acoustic strings, strummed or plucked. Thanks LuLu Mae for bringing us something new and now while letting us enjoy sensations for all times.

Fresh, simple, pure, unassuming, heartfelt, real - a nice change from the usual cookie-cutter stuff. Full of character and real heart.

Each song on Lulu Mae's most recent album tells a story, draws you in. It has been in constant repeat in my home and car-- and it's not getting old. Production, lyrics, instrumentation, artistry-- all lovingly rendered. An instant favorite.

Loved their last album, but this one is far more sophisticated. If you're a lover of poetry in music, if you enjoy that you find something new every time you listen, then you'll love Lulu Mae.

Top to bottom, every song is so complete yet leaves you wishing they'd just play for hours. Thoughtful and engaging, this is a real work of craftsmanship. Lead singer just has one of those effortlessly unique voices. There's a real earnestness for life streaming from these words and tunes.

This is a record of 10 standout tracks. Lulu Mae is relatively new as far as I can tell but you'd never know it from hearing The Mockingbird and the Dogwood Tree. The music easy to hear, but it is not "easy listening." The songs are about family for the most part and the lyrics and music reflect the interactions and moods created by those most intimate relationships, both good and bad. To me the standout tracks are Give Me Some Music, Corallina, and Clean Up My Heart. The musicians are amazing and I just can't stop playing these tunes over and over. $9.90? Purchased.

Not only do the lyrics draw you in, the musical arrangements are amazing! You'll find youreself singing The Man With the Golden Toy all day, and turning it up full blast in your car! Lulu Mae has definitely stepped it up with this album. I can't wait to see where they go from here!
