  • Finally, the correct The Swanee River (except name)

Every version of The Swanee River on iTunes is either to up tempo, to slow, or some boogie and non-banjo perversion. If all of those are checked off as okay, then it's the lyrics. The song is about a black feller, poorly educated, far from home, and yearning fondly to go back where he's accepted for who he is. It's a beautiful song, but everyone seems worried the mispronounced words (like 'ribber' and 'mudder') are somehow offensive. Correcting the pronunciation destroys the quaint charm of the original writer, and is a slap to the face of folk song history. These gentlemen got it right; perfect tempo, lyrics, and instrumentation. The vocalist is so-so, but I doubt the original singer was any better, which actually helps the song feel more authentic. Excellent job guys!
  • Not Their Best Effort

This is a good album but it is not their best. It has several historical songs but they are not the best. The songs were not recognizable. I did like hearing unusual songs but this was not my favorite album.

This is another fantastic collection of civil war era songs from the 2nd Carolina boys. I think that this is one of their most enjoyable albums.
