  • Why isn't this band more popular?

I first heard Cities of Foam when their song "Out of Reach" was featured for free on iTunes (back in iTunes 4.7). I listened to it once, didn't think much of it, and forgot about them. A few weeks ago, the song played randomly on my iPod and I instantly fell in love with it. I purchased their album and enjoy every song. If Cities of Foam could get their name out there I really think this band would take off.

I apparently downloaded this song when it was the song of the week but never really listened to it. While looking for another song with the same title, I clicked it by accident and was captivated. So two years later I'm discovering this album and LOVING that particular song! It's been on repeat quite a bit.

Brilliant. That's the first word that came to mind when I sampled their music on itunes; I bought their album (the only album I've purchased on itunes) quickly afterwards. Cities of Foam are unique in that each track delivers a sense of urgency with strong beats, driving basslines, and quick tempos; and at the same time providing soft melodies, electronic backdrops, and yes even various ambient sounds if you listen carefully (bird song, crickets, etc.). It's chill and energetic simultaneously.

found this when "out of reach" was the free iTunes single of the week. it's one of only a couple tracks with vocals, but that really doesn't matter. each song is distinct. very chill. perfect for spring or summer... but proving to be good all year long.
