In the sleeve notes to this album Thomas Truax describes his collection as "Entries in the journal of a single life on an off-kilter planet during a trying year". (He wrote one song a month throughout 2011). Though most of the songs are named for the month in which they were written, the album plays more like a great singles collection than the story of a year. The first half mostly reflects an introspective sadness in some beautiful candid songs culminating in the pièce de résistance 'Lost On the Moon In June'. In the second half the mood changes are as erratic as the weather, but every song stands on its own, and we're closer to the old mad-inventor Truax we know and love. 'Gold Star For Miss July', 'November in Berlin' and 'Everything's Gone Halloween' are particularly excellent but there isn't a bad track in the bunch.
