  • Production masking lack of talent

See their true ability live and you'll laugh all the way to the door. Singer is a total loser, and the band sounds like they're playing a Junior High talent show for obese youth. The Soundtrack to Nowhere.

sounds like the velvet underground meets 60's surf rock!...very cool And to the folks that trashed this ep, you don't get it...so why write about it and spread negativity! It's meant to sound the way it does!

Radiant Door is an enjoyable EP that plays it's pace perfectly. There is a lot of uplift here.

This EP definitely slows things down a bit more than the previous albums. If you're a fan by now and enjoy their other albums then you'll enjoy, and most of all, understand it. If you're just showing up to the party and don't listen to (for example) Dirty Beaches, Julianna Barwick, Pocahaunted, or at the very least THE HORRORS, then you should save your time reviewing this for the next Pearl Jam reunion album or that Smashing Pumpkins re-issue. There's nothing wrong with Corgan or Vedder, just like there's nothing wrong with this EP if you understand the context in which it's being presented. And that context what a black hole probably listens in it's iPod to while it slowly inhales a star.

It 's not they need a new mike they need to take his completely away . Of course it's in a sense of artist judgement to obscure the singing or is it ( HE CAN'T SING and it's better to put the mike in the closet) Crystal Stilts? with a name like that you know they have got to be creative.

Seriously, the guy sounds like he's singing from the inside of a closet, or maybe on the other side of the room from the mic. As far as the music itself, if you enjoy extremely repetitive, subdued, and thoroughly depressing music, you could buy this album. Or you could just play any other album really slowed down, and played softly through your closet and save yourself a few bucks.

This EP is bookended by my two favorite Crystal Stilt tracks yet (dark eyes and frost inside the asylum) with the former channeling The Doors if they ever wrote an upbeat song, and the latter feeling like The Velvet Underground more so than anything they've written yet. The other tracks are great too...hopefully this is what we have to look forward to on the next LP.
