I love Ron Pope. I buy every one of his albums. BUT, I have one complaint: Please, Ron, don't put old songs on your new albums. I practically have 3 versions of every song you've sung because you re-make it and include it on your next album. For example, "I'm Your's". I already have 2 versions of that song. Just write new music. I KNOW you have a huge list of new music you've written. I've seen it, I've heard it. Include it. Otherwise I just buy bits and pieces of new albums instead of the whole album. I would rather buy the entire album. What happened to "I Won't Give Up The Things I Love"?

Just WOW! I was looking for a good version of Born Under a Bad Sign, and DL'd Albert King's [natch]. And then I heard Ron Pope's! Man! So cool; stripped down; I wanted a down and dirty version, passed up Cream and Pat Travers [for now...] and landed, to my _great_ joy, on Ron Pope's album, which I bought immediately! I'm a life-long rocker, so, I've heard versions of the blues for a long time. Some years ago, I got to spend time playing bass with some regional Blues acts, and my love of the _blues_ blues set in. Ev'rybody plays it diff'rent, which is the best part! Ron Pope's blues is one for the books! --Al the Bass Player Austin, Texas

Did NOT see this one coming. Ron Pope has always been off the radar for me, not that he is not talented, but his prior work was just not for me. Seems to me he was always searching for a style and was, for the most part, one dimensional. But perhaps he's as talented and versatile – and perhaps as "artistically chaotic" – as Mayer and Lang. I am hoping he has hit his stride here, and is not just putting out a "boutique blues" work like Cyndi Lauper, Joan Armatrading or Neil Young. And while I don't expect him to stick with the blues and start working with Tommy Castro, if he is planning on rooting his future work in the blues (Mayer, Lang, Big Head Todd) while not actually cutting another blues record, well, I could certainly live with that. In fact, that would be very cool indeed. Time to see some soul out of Ron Pope.

I LOVE this new album! If I didn't love Blues before, I would now! Ron's new songs pay tribute to his southern roots with a unique spin that's all his own. From the mellow harmonies of 'Born Under a Bad Sign', the album's title track, to the upbeat, get-out-of-your-chair-and-dance riffs of 'I got my Mojo Workin,' Ron consistently wows us with his amazing voice, prolific lyrics and steely guitar. My only criticism is that he made us wait so long for a blues album!! All of his songs are incredible, but there is something in this latest release that feels like he has finally "come home" This is a must have for any music lover!
