Not sure how I missed it, but I just found it a couple of days ago, and am VERY happy I bought it! The songs grab you and won't let go...very much like the songs on her first terrific album. Highly recommended.

It's a great coming-back album, and i'm so happy she's back. She's releasing new music too, so the next album shouldn't have quite as long a wait. CANT WAIT!

Anna Nalick came on the scene with strong lyrics, a voice that while gentle has some steel in it, and music that displayed just enough attitude to help convey the feeling behind her words. She then released the song Shine and I thought that she had found gold there. It was everything an Anna Nalick song ought to be; heartfelt, strong, and full of wit and wisdom. This album re-released a new version of that song that removed all the fire, the emotion, the drive and instead gives us a lilting, singsong, weak version. Sadly, the entire album proceeds in much the same fashion. Gone is the Anna Nalick with vigor and vivacity. She has been replaced by a tame, wispy shadow of her former self. Please give her a new producer that lets her reclaim her fire.

...that this isn't as good as Wreck of the Day or her earlier material, or that she needs to join the ranks of those on major labels again. This album achieves something Wreck of the Day never could. I love both, and this album gets better with each listen. Compiled from songs recorded from her initial second album, Broken Doll, as well as other odds and ends (hence the name) this album is full of amazing downtempo tracks and relaxing acoustic moments that give the perfect bridge between Wreck of the Day and the future. Don't lose hope for more pop/rock, this was put out for the fans to have something to ride them over until her next, more rock oriented release.
  • More please.

I thought it was just 'good.' But after a few listens I remembered how she is blessed with a distinct voice with enough range to keep my ears fixed on the music. I hope she makes up for the lost time in coming months and years.

Wreck of the Day is one of my favorite albums of all time. With that said, I have been waiting for another album for years now and this is one is just ok. With all the pop/rock flavor gone, and a much more acoustic arrangement, Im missing the passion and pain. I just dont feel it in these songs like I did before. Her voice is beautiful and the lyrics are alright, but Im left wanting more

I love anna nalick and "wreck of the day" was awesome but this album is a bit disappointing for me. I don't like the new version of "Shine" either, i liked the EP version better. It just kind of all blends together into one big mush and none of the songs really stand on their own.
  • Whimsically Sounding!

As expected from Anna Nalick, these songs are wonderfully written and whimsical! The only downside is that vocally, this is not the Anna that I'm used to. I miss her belting powerful expressive notes. There were so many songs from her live performances that I was looking forward to seeing on this album like: Lullaby Singer, Words, Break Me Open, Straitjacket and more.

I adored Anna's album "Wreck of the Day" I still keep it in my favorite play lists and sing along in the car to nearly EVERY song. I've got them all rated 4 and 5 *'s in iTunes. As you can imagine I was excited when "Broken Doll & Odds & Ends" came out. I bought it, listened and was greatly disappointed in the album as a whole. This album feels (and sounds) way to repetitive. Don't get me wrong, each song on the album is beautifully well written but after listening through the album a few times I don't love any of the songs cause none of them stand out, well...besides "Kiss Them for Me" with it's Indian influences but the change of instruments doesn't change that it's mood and performance is lack luster. Actually lack luster is exactly how I'd describe this album compared to Anna's freshman debut. I thought at least Shine would be a favorite, both the EP and the EP Acoustic versions were amazing! I figured the album cut would be as good as the EP version (if not better) but it wasn't. Shine sounded blander and almost without passion on this album. Reading others' reviews I feel like we're listening to completely different albums, I guess I just expected A LOT more from this album.
