SOLOS: The Jazz Sessions (Lee Konitz)

Wow. Who would have thought Lee Konitz in his later years would prove to so inventive and exciting as a solo artist? The master improvisor and melody maker reveals himself to be as engaged here as always. Kary's Trance is mesmerizing and the one titled Improvisation #2 just keeps getting better as it goes along. Also, the interviews, though short and not really worth the money unless you buy the whole album, are insightful as well. Kudos to Lee Konitz for such a daring recording. I'm hooked on this Solos series. Very cool.
