Another brilliant set of songs from the Detroit area rocker who often flies under the radar yet deserves the spotlight. Stewart's voice only gets better with age as evidenced by songs like "Givin' It Up" and "I'll Follow You Into The Dark." There are soulful and motownish sounds on "Sam Cooke's On The Radio" and the funky vibe thrown down in "You Want What You Don't Got." Of course, "Summer Solider" with Springsteen is great but don't overlook standout tunes like "Heart of A Heartless World: and "Sidewalk Dimes." Highly recommended if you love adult contemporary rock.

Heartless World finds one of America's finest songwriters turning inward to cope with what he see outside in a cold, sometimes frightening world, and coming out on the other side a new man. Years after his original masterpiece Wheel Of Life we find Francke beyond his cancer remission, beyond career ups and downs, and firmly planted in a place where his experience is translated into these fantastic songs. And what songs they are, highlighted by the sorrowful Soul Tattoo. as moving a lament to a world where loss is part of the deal as you'll ever hear, and Summer Soldiers, his duet with Bruce Springsteen...simply, one of the greatest anti war songs ever written. This is his breakthrough record, so get on the train NOW...
