And with a musical genius behind the board, the stage is set for a christmas classic! I must first highlight his guitar work on 'Winterskol' I think that's the most beautiful instrumental on this album and one of the finest I've ever heard. This album really sets not only the Christmas tone but the winter season tone no other Christmas CD does that for me (except 'If on A Winter's Night' by Sting) .I love playing it as soon as Halloween ends and the vast chill of the late fall sets in. 'At Christmas Time' is a heartfelt tune of the festives of the year and 'This Endris Night' is one of the best. 'Christ The King' is another diamond. Buy this and you will see what we all mean.

Who doesn't want to hear festive music? Although I like to hearing the classic traditional Christmas songs, I can make an exception for this album. Dan is a musical genius. Best songs are 'At Christmas Time', 'This Endris Night', & 'Christ The King'. This is an an all acoustic/ medieval album (minus the keyboard effects and wood winds).

This is exactly the Christmas album you'd expect from Dan Fogelberg. This is not just a collection of yuletide hymns, but rather a musical journey, typical of Fogelberg's style. Simple yet interesting, his arrangements convey a sense of gravitas essential to a good Christmas album without losing any of the requisite joy. This is great addition to any holiday music collection; if you're a fan of Dan Fogelberg, it's a must-have.

I bought this cd when it was first released, it is his first cd post Columbia/Sony and he had a relaxed feel throughout this entire cd, a feeling that he was doing this music for music's sake and the arrangements of this Baroque/Celtic album are a testimony to this. His treatment of "I Saw Three Ships" should be considered one of the definitive modern readings and his intimate version of "What Child Is This" is classic Dan in the vein of "Longer" with a voice that displays maturity. I learned just before this writing Dan passed away from cancer, he left us with an amazing legacy and his voice will live on. You've made it to the Netherlands Dan; rest in peace and thank you for the music.

Dan Fogelberg's love and reverence for the musical forms he explores in this unique release extends to a love and reverence for The Savior. His original songs clearly point to Christ the King, and even his rollicking "At Christmas Time" culminates in praise and thanksgiving to the Lord. Quite an amazing turn. His simple but inspired renderings of ballad carols "In The Bleak Midwinter" and "This Endris Night" highlight not only his delicate guitar work and warm, mature voice, but the clear pronouncement of the Message of these songs of the Incarnate Word of God, and His Most Pure Mother. The instrumental pieces (especially the timeless "Snowfall") are themselves quite delightful, but also aid in the peace-filled pacing of this marvelous, loving masterwork from our beloved artist. May his memory be eternal!
  • Dan conjures Christmas Past

Dan's beautiful album conjures memories of Christmas past. The love and warmth of childhood Christmas as well as the centuries that have gone before. Instrumentals, bittersweet and lovely, are perfect for sitting by a roaring fire or under the glowing lights of the tree. While still other tracks, "At Christmas Time" & "I Saw Three Ships" will have you reeling and dancing a jig with a roomful of Celtic celebrants! My personal favorite is "What Child is This" where Dan's voice is at its higher angelic registers. If you love beautiful Christmas music that leaves the commercialism behind, this album is a must. So snuggle up with someone you love, get the fire going and let this album do the rest!

Dan graced us with three decades of solid lyrics and melodies that defined places and time. "Longer" and "Same Old Lang Syne" will have a special place in our hearts this holiday season and each following. Thank you for your contribution to our musical worlds.
