I have waited far too long to review this album but I have been listening to it a lot lately and I thought I would put my two cents in. This album definitely supercedes the previous Fury and Flames (although I love that album as well). I, Monarch has always stood as the pinnacle, the bottom line for Hate Eternal as far as I'm concerned. And like I, Monarch this has a bit more of a "melodic groove" to it if you will. As one reviewer stated, this is an album you can listen to from start to finish and then repeat over and over without growing bored. However, as the producer for such other great bands - Cannibal Corpse, etc. this album is a bit muddy, bottom heavy. Not as much as Fury and Flames, but you need to tweak your equalizer to find the appropriate sound. Rutan must focus so much on creating and recording these masterpieces that the production is less focused. That is the only complaint I have with this album. That being said, PATA is definitely one of the best death metal albums of the last five years, and I have always loved Eric's work with Ripping Corpse, Morbid Angel and Hate Eteternal. So even though the production value is a bit subpar I still need to give this album 5 stars. Love it!

This is excellently executed death metal at its finest! Eric Rutan is a beast of a producer, but I never knew that he could play circles around just about anyone who has a guitar in the death metal genre, and he can growl like a demon to match! He really knows how to write good death metal. I was not disappointed in this whatsoever! Just get it if you are a fan of death metal

Skeptical at first - but this is definitely really heavy and crushing. Overall, a great death metal release.
  • Appallingly good.

Much better than you might expect. This will grab you from the very first listen. The Art of Redemption is way sick in particular... Sounds like the old Satan's Hallow arcade game mashed up with a hyper brutal version of Voivod.
  • Once again...

another garbage recording. Music is still muddy, but not as bad as Fury And The Flames, and this time the vocals are a bit too low. Why can't Hate Eternal recordings sound just as good as other bands coming out of Mana Studios?? Maybe someone as good as Mr. Rutan should be behind the board instead of an assistant?
  • Instant Classic!!

It's rare that I listen to an album once and instantly enjoy it. If you like Hate Eternal's style you will like this album as the best of their collection.
