  • Great album

One of Reds worst albums. I like the songs Faceless, Lie to Me (Denial) and kind of Feed the machine it has too much screaming in it. So I like it forty percent and sixty percent not. Because it has way too much more screaming in it than a mixture of both yelling and no yelling. It has forty percent of screaming and sixty percent not screaming still hard rock parts but most is not screaming but forty percent is still too much. I give this album a forty percent of how much I like it and sixty percent of how much I don’t like it. Because it is a good hard rock album but it has too screaming songs and slow boring in it.

So this is my personal favorite album, of beauty and rage comes in at no. 2 and then I & I, i love all these song, this album has the perfect mix of heavy and soft with songs such as faceless and not alone, so now how about we take a closer look at the individual songs shall we? #1 FEED THE MACHINE WOW! A jaw dropping opening song! This is one of my personal favorite songs of all time. The palm muted riff at the beginning leading to the scream that sorta fully opens the song was genius! The meaning behind the song I believe is very important, The machine being the world and it telling us what to do how we should live, and us as Christians having to avoid following what the world tells us.(feeding the machine.)I really really liked this song and the meaning so I’ll leave a 9/10. #2 Faceless So this is definitely one of my favorites, it might be my favorite on the album. The intro was really cool, learning it on guitar was fun as well. The lyrics are very creative, now the bridge has the hardest lyrics to hear as some of the were just whispers or mixed in with other screams, like “we are the faceless” and “until we have faces” are sort of mixed together. The meaning is really cool and I’m glad that red is following this sort of sound in there new album coming out. My rating, 10/10. #3 lie to me (denial) This was a good one, though probably comes at #5 for me. It just didn’t really click for me, I didn’t really listen to this one that much so it didn’t really get to grow on me. The meaning is always good and Red always has creative lyrics so this is still a good song just isn’t my favorite. 9/10. #4 let it burn This is my least favorite. I didn’t really care for this one it was a little repetitive and didn’t have enough of an aggressive wall of guitars for me.(I’m a guitarist so...) the vocals were really good,(Michaels always awesome!) the lyrics were probably the best part of the song, I’d just like to know who the girl was that did the backing vocals. The song overall was good so I’ll leave 7/10 #5 buried beneath This was a really good one though the most forgettable I would say. The guitars were cool, the drums had sort of a retro feel. The lyrics were actually pretty good, not the best. But better than let it burn. Once again has the girl vocalizing which i like (if I’m hearing correctly.) It’s definitely a good song. 8/10. #6 not alone My second favorite song on this album. It doesn’t have a bunch of aggressive guitars or vocals of drums, but it’s the meaning for this one, it’s about how god is holding on to you and is in control even when it seems like he’s not holding on. This really is one of my personal favorite songs of all time, remember your not alone. 10/10. #7 watch you crawl This one comes in at number four for me. It’s actually way better than I expected, it’s pretty heavy throughout and has good and creative lyrics. The guitars, bass and drums all work well together for this song, it’s pretty catchy too. I’d give this one a chance. 9/10 #8 the outside I would say that this is where you can tell that the album is ending. If you look at an album the way you look at a story this is the end of the second act, it just feels like the end Which isn’t a bad thing, this is where the hero or main character is figuring it all out and these next few songs close it out. This is definitely a good song with creative lyrics, it’s also the heaviest song next to feed the machine, so if you like heavy you’ll like this song. 8/10. #9 who we are Yes! This my third favorite song on the album. When I first heard the song, when I heard the first part of the intro, I didn’t like it, I always skipped it, then I listened to it all the way through and I really liked it, the lyrics are creative and the meaning is really cool, the guitars are really good and all the instruments work together well so it’s just a great song. Overall 10/10 #10 the best is yet to come This one for me took a little time to grow on me, in-fact it’s still growing on me I would say. When I started really paying attention to the lyrics and I understood the meaning, I really liked this song. It all flows so well, it’s a really beautiful song too. This is one of my personal favorites, so I’ll give it a 9/10. #11 hymn for the missing The best outro possible for this album. It just all worked together so well, once again Red has made a song that just perfects this album. While it may not be quite like nothing and everything in the sense that it’s the while album in one song, while hymn for the missing is more of a closing for this story. The song is definitely one of the most beautiful songs I’ve ever heard, with the piano in bridge and the girl starts doing the lead vocals, this can be slightly repetitive at times, and strangely it works though, This is the only song that is able to work like that. This feed the machine and faceless are tied at no. 1 on my list. 10/10. This was my first Red album, it’s my favorite album in general and has some of the best song I’ve ever heard, many of the songs on this album will stick with me for the rest of my life. It’s been 8 years now and if you haven’t bought it yet buy it now, You won’t regret it. -just the biggest red fan ever.

The album is a little more riff-driven than their previous albums, I thought, but still has the emotional metal feel. Feed the Machine, The Outside, Hymn for the Missing and Not Alone are some favorites. Overall Rating: 8/10
