  • My favorite soundtrack ever!

This is a masterpiece. It sounds amazing on CD and I’m sure digital downloads are the same. Strangely though the music on the DVD movie (bootleg copy) doesn’t sound as refined as this.
  • One of the greatest soundtracks of the 20th century

I'm a big movie soundtrack buff, and this is one of my 2 favorites (the other being Last of the Mohicans). Vangelis really transports you into the period and creates a sense of awe and wonder. I love the nautical feel of the music as well as the hints of an older, almost Renaissance style. If you like Vangelis, this is his best, if you like movie soundtracks, then this one is awesome.

I bought this soundtrack when it was released in 1992 on Cassette and wore it out I played it so much. I bought the CD, and played it all the time, even buying a second one, just so I could have it to loan out. I never tire listening to it, the last track I will have played at my funeral, I listen to it at least once a day, ever since I bought it in 1992! The music is majestic, modern, electronic with world instrumentation, and booming chorals. The mood covers the full range from exciting, to mellow, from romantic, to frightening. Vangelis displays a unique sound that not only is grand in scope, but addictive; how I wish Vangelis would release more music. His work is deep and wide. I have to admit I love all his work, but this album stands as on of his finest. Every song is wonderful and evocative and seems to tell a story. My only wish is that all of the music from the movie was on it. I would also recommend highly his other soundtracks, particularly Antartica, Alexander, Themes and his albums, particularly Direct, City and Oceanic, you will not be disappointed.

Just finished a cruise on windstar. Every time they set sail they would play conquest of paradise. Simply moving.
  • When will you make the movie available on iTunes?

I have always loved this album, I am a huge fan of soundtracks. This is by far one of my favorite soundtracks, not much else compares to Vangelis. It's been a while since I have heard these songs, and it's really making me want to watch 1492.

Imagine as the album art illustrates, standing at the edge of the world and staring into the abyss. What will you see? What will you hear? What will you feel? This is where the sounds of Vangelis bring me. To the edge of rapturous bliss... Arthur Anthony
