I listen to two covers of this song on my iPhone, Rachel Rachel's and Stryper's. Viva la Difference! I love both! and the original! I get afraid of cookie cutter covers, I love to hear the flavor of the covering band, I do wish there were some more harmony in parts, but then I feel like it would have ended up sounding like Rachel Rachel's. This is solid, fresh and rocks! I'm missing the issue with the drums... Kind of loving it!

I love stryper! I've always liked this song but its even better when an awesome christian hard rock/metal band redoes an awesome song! Also because they released on my birthday.

I think this is as good as "Heaven and He'll". You can only change an iconic song so much without ruining it and I think it was changed just enough to freshen it up especially with the solos at the end. The drum sound was good but the only issue I had is the snare sound which is kind of hollow kind of like on St. Anger from metallica. I can't wait for the CD to come out. I don't usually like cover CD's but so far, Strypers 2 songs have been winners.
  • I understand what they are doing.

I really am amazed by the musicianship of Stryper. I have loved their music since 1983. I have also been though what they are trying to say with the soon to follow album " The Covering". A "Wayward son" coming back into the fold. I understand what they are trying to show with the music chosen for the album. A friend and I in high school would listen to all of the Heavy Metal of the time and truley lived that lifestyle. When my Mom gave me Stryper's first album as a gift, It pulled me back to where I was raised. I played it for my friend and at first he shunned it as garbage. Today he, as am I , Are ministers for our beliefs. We both still love the classic Metal, but can hear some of our favorite tunes with these selections from Stryper. Thanks Michael, Robert, Oz and Tim(My comrade in arms).

I do agree with the earlier review. Production makes a huge difference. Stryper had always been known for that big drum ,vocals in your face sound. But these last recordings don't show it. Tom Werman on AGTL did there best production to date. If only they had the financial backing a big label or put up the money, these songs would sound way better. On a more important note Love the new songs guys keep it up. Still glad your rockin for Jesus Christ.

I have always been impressed with Stryper's musicianship. What got me hooked on Stryper years ago was their cover of Earth, Wind, and Fires 'Shining Star'. With the cover of the classic Kansas tune, 'Carry On Wayward Son', Stryper once again proves that they can take a classic song and make it their own. While this cover is instantly recognizable for the Kansas anthem it is, it is just as recognizable as Stryper. As an aside, I think I differ with a few folks that did not like the drum mix. I actually really loved it. As for the rest of the music, I think it is superb. It will be interesting to see what sort of airplay this song gets on FM. I hope "The Covering" cleans house.
