This again affirms that Mike Smith was the talent who carried the DC5. He was clearly in it for the love of music, while Dave was in it for his own ego and money. I love the album. Mike Smith left a legacy to the world - music..

What do Tommy James, Sam Cooke and Neil Young have in common? Answer: Their music has been covered by the Dave Clark 5, or in this instance, Dave Clark and Friends. After the group disbanded, Dave and Mike still worked together a while longer, the result being this 14 track album. Granted, only die-hards may be interested in this, but kudos to Dave for releasing it and giving the long time fans (like me) the chance to enjoy it, after all these years. The majority of the songs are covers, however I believe "Won't You Be My Lady" is an original. Perhaps there are 1 or 2 others? I always enjoyed the 5 Man Electrical Band (5MEB) and their song "Signs" is included here. Funny thing though, the part where the 5MEB sing "Sign says you got to have a membership card to get inside.....OOOOH!" is not on the track. And I happen to think that they do a nice job on Neil Young's "Southern Man". Another interesting note is that what I think may be the longest DC track is here, as "Officer McKirk" clocks in at 5:47. If you are/were a big fan of the DC5, it's worth checking out. Now all we need is a CD full of rarities and songs that don't appear anywhere else.
