Been to a lot of Down shows. Sounds like a live Down album should. Buy it.
  • This is so thick and doomy influenced I like it The sound of the dirty south

The only thing I can say is this is really good and I disagree with the other reviewer saying it sounds dirty like it was recorded in a garage. Honestly I think this is how it is supposed to sound: dirty and underproduced. But frankly if you think this is underproduced you really have not heard crappy recorded stuff. Just listen to old Norwegian Black Metal or Eighties English Hardcore punk. That stuff tends to be underproduced in an extreme way. This is high quality recording compared to some of the stuff I listen to. Anyways if you like heavy rock/metal with a doomy slow southern dirty blues sound you will love this band.

Uhhh if you are a musician at all you will appreciate this album. To the idiots posting that Nola and II sound better you need to quit reviewing albums because you are full of it. The mixes in fact sound awesome. It's a concert after all. I actually became disappointed with the sound of the first 2 down records after this one because the songs sound so much better in this live recording. I tend to believe the reviewers complaining about mixes and blah, blah, blah, have no clue what they are even talking about. Mixes are some of the best and most authentic live sounds I've ever heard. These are not little club recordings. Big powerful sound and a great album to let play through. "The Power of the Riff compels Me!"

This live release is a very cool listen. You get to really hear what these guys are all about live and its a very cool ride. Yeah some people are put off by Phil's drunken ramblings etc, yet in some ways, these rambling are what make this band a more interesting live listen as you're not going to find that anywhere else now are you!
  • Samples Sound Horrid

I'm giving this 2 stars since I don't own the album. But after listening to the samples for Jail and Stone the Crow, I will never buy this album. Phil's voice sounds horrid, even on Down's 'hits'. I'll be much happier sticking to the album versions of these songs. Very glad I did not purchase blindly!

... this isn't a Megadeth concert, aight? They're not playing through Mark IIC+'s. This isn't THRASH METAL. This is classically inspired, bass-heavy, psychedelia laced, time and spaced, doom-in-your-FACE (IN YOUUUUUUR FAAAAAAAAAAAAAACE!), heaven sent... ROCK... AND... ROLL. Bonham, JPJ, Page'n'Plant would be proud. Rock on, Down.

I'm a huge Down fan. And this release was highly anticipated because i've always heard how great they are live, but man i have to say i'm disappointed. The sound, the mix, the choice of songs….total confusion on what they trying to do here. Hope the next live album is way better than this.
  • EXCELLENCE THY NAME IS ANSELMO

This album is amazing. TRULY amazing. Why? Because this is Phillip Anselmo doing what he does, being a madman on stage and throwing his heart out there. The recording is all beautiful and digital, because DOWN are some really chill, old school, stoner sludge metal All Stars. They like things simple. This sounds like the kind of recording Keith Richards would be proud of. All the mics in the "wrong" places, but god does it sound amazing. Listen for the soul of the music, don't like your inner music snob turn you away from the truth that is DOWN.

Stop the bashing. Anyone who has followed phil through all the years knows that he sounds like this in every live performance. Check 101 proof live. And as far as this being a bad selection... Man this is the essential sound of DOWN! Rock on guys
