Hey Marseilles is currently my favorite band. I can't get enough of To Travels & Trunks. Beautiful melodies. Great blend of classical, pop, folk and international sounds.
  • A symphony of wonder

The instrumental songs in these albums are completely brilliant. I found this musical group about 15 minutes ago and I'm in love! Marseilles (song) is beautiful. It sounds so very 1920s France Ernest Hemingway. The cello is such a nice touch to a modern band too.

A beautiful band. I've been listening to them for a long time and have never gotten tired of hearing their music. There is an amazing range of songs from upbeat dancing ones, Rio/Cigarettes, to bittersweet slow ones, you will do for now.

Such a beautiful album! No bad song at all. Noticed a typo on one of the songs though

Wonderfully written and composed album. The instrumental song, Marseilles, is such an amazing song. One of my favorite albums

I saw Hey Marseilles as the opening act for Toad the Wet Sprocket at the Fillmore in San Francisco, and found their music and performance to be instantly appealing and accessible. Their instrumentation and arrangements are clever without being "cute" and I loved the way various musicians switched instruments in their live show. The CD did not disappoint, offering the same energy as the live show. At the risk of categorizing or labeling the band unfairly, I'll say I was reminded of some other bands I like - not that Hey Marseilles seems like an imitation, but I thought of The Decemberists, Arcade Fire, Wilco, Yo La Tengo.

One of my favorite albums, but I noticed a typo in one of the song names. It reads "SomoMe to Love", rather than "Someone to Love".
  • A Sweetly Solid Album

To Travels and Trunk is a very melodic album with a lot of unique instrumentation. Some of the songs are infectiously happy (Rio, Marseilles) and some are bittersweet and beautiful (You Will Do For Now, Someone to Love). It lags a tad on the back half of the album as some of the songs are similar, but that is balanced by the loveliness of said songs. All in all, it is a very pleasing debut that holds up to repeated listens.

There is no one who compares to these guys! Hey Marseilles is this amazing mix of Indie and classical, with something else thrown in there and it is amazing! They are so unique, fresh, and new and I LOVE it! I've been listening to their album non-stop! Great rhythms, instrumentals, voices, lyrics, and just all together great songs. These guys are my new favorite band! You need to hear this stuff! All of it! I see things going for these guys. Ohh, and by the way I call dibs on being the number one fanatical fan!

This is one of the best albums I've heard in the past 1-2 years. Great songs include Rio, Calabasas, Cities, among others. I hope this band makes several quality albums and is able to stay together a good while.
