Saw these guys live at the Metro on 9/24/10, they are AMAZING!!! One of the best concerts i've been to hands down, you guys rock!!! Anyways i was a little weary of buying the cd (feeling i may be dissapointed after they were so good live) but IT is awesome too! Definately a different sound than live, but GOOD different. It definately captures the energy, intensity and sonic differences of all the instruments and band members that make Suckers arguably a step above all other experimental pop bands out there. Black Sheep may be the single but if nothing else check out "You Can Keep Me Runnin' Around" for sure, if not "Before Your Birthday Ends." Rock on guys!
  • get this and/or go to the show!

The kind of music that just makes you want to get-up stand-up, shout-out, stomp your feet, & sing-along. Reminds me a bit of late era Flaming Lips with a good dose of the Gil Mantera Party Dream Band. Can't wait for their return to Cleveland in the next couple weeks...
  • Great album, also get the EP

I loved every song on the EP and found this first full album a very satisfying followup. "Beach Queen", from the EP, is still my favorite song however. These guys are really talented song writers and musicians. The lead singer's vocals are rich, conveying a building sense of emotion and energy. His falsetto is good too, but it seems to me you can't call it "prepubescent", as the iTunes reviewer did. Falsetto is a post-pubescent technique. Before puberty, it would just be singing high in a child's voice. Anyway...
  • Awesome!!!!

Suckers' creativity and brilliance bursts out on this album in a rainbow of sounds that take you all over the map. It's a 'must have'! No wonder MTV dubbed them "breakout band of 2010".
  • Got to see them live in Denver...

soooo good live - crazy good. They should have been the headlining show instead of Local Natives. If the Suckers come to your town, see them, you won't regret it.

A must buy/ download /steal /recreate in shower what have you. You have to listen to this album. The term multiinstrumentalists is a cliche that Suckers exceed here. The album surges and swoons, conjuring a shout out loud joy that recalls Oingo Boingo and David Byrne at once. Enjoy.

Different from their live show, which showcases their impressive multi-instrumental abilities, but is equally satisfying. Great utilization of harmonies, synths+effects, and song structures. Really talented musicians making really sick songs.

Suckers are a very a talented bunch of musicians who each play several different instruments when jamming together...Definitely buy this album if you are a fan of Talking Heads, Animal Collective or the movie Labyrinth! The album is packed full of excellent songs and Quinns voice is very versatile..Superb debut album!
